Burger King in the UK is playing quite the cynic this holiday season as its plans for the colder months include “hijacking Christmas.” Amid the yuletide advertising frenzy, its celebrations involve playfully picking apart two beloved Christmas traditions: Santa Claus and Christmas songs.

Deceptively festive out-of-home imagery bites down on the double meaning of “Whopper,” which not only refers to the iconic burger but is also meant to insinuate a tall tale—perhaps involving the existence of a jolly bearded man in red whose mission to deliver presents to EVERY good child in the world on Christmas eve isn’t physically possible. Don’t show this campaign to your kids.

In the spirit of Hijacking Christmas, Burger King UK is shaking up carols too by taking the cult classic song Driving Home for Christmas and giving it a cheeky makeover as Driving (Thru The) Home (Of The Whopper) For Christmas.

“If you’re driving home for Christmas and need to put food in your faces, our drive-thrus are open for business,” croons the song, which will be aired on local radio stations to invite fans to make a pit stop at the Home of the Whopper.

The campaign was crafted by advertising agency BBH, which wanted to stick out from the predictable tropes of traditional Christmas advertising adopted by a sea of other brands.
