Pokémon Card Conventions Face Backlash Over Puppies Offered For Trades

by rrollins, September 18, 2026

Pokémon card conventions are facing criticism after videos showed breeders offering French Bulldog puppies for cash or trades involving collectible cards. South Florida collector PICKLEQW33N livestreamed one encounter in which puppies were offered for $4,000 each or Pokémon cards. Separate footage from B&B Collectibles showed another breeder seeking cards or $10,000 for a puppy and claiming to bring dogs to collector conventions regularly. The incidents have raised concerns about animal welfare, impulse ownership and irresponsible breeding. Collectors are now calling on convention organizers to restrict live-animal sales and trades, arguing that puppies should never become bargaining chips for collectibles.
