Disney has confirmed it will shut down the standalone Hulu app by 2026, merging its content into Disney Plus as part of a major streaming overhaul. The move follows Disney’s $9 billion acquisition of Comcast’s stake in Hulu, giving it full ownership. Hulu’s library, including exclusive originals, will be integrated into a redesigned Disney Plus interface, offering a unified experience that combines general entertainment, family programming, live sports, and news. Internationally, Hulu will replace the Star tile on Disney Plus starting fall 2025. Disney also announced it will stop reporting individual subscriber numbers beginning fiscal 2026, shifting focus to profitability.
