A new billboard in downtown Phoenix portrays Donald Trump as the self-declared “Swamp King,” shirtless, crowned, and chest-deep in sludge. Created by artist Karen Fiorito and installed on July 3, the chaotic scene includes a swastika-tagged Tesla Cybertruck, a MAGA-hat-wearing alligator, and references to Medicaid cuts, Project 2025, and the “Big Beautiful Bill.” The piece is part of the Grand Avenue Billboard Project, curated by Beatrice Moore, and aims to satirize Trump’s second-term controversies. It joins a wave of recent political art installations, including anonymous anti-Trump pieces in Washington, D.C., using spectacle to provoke public dialogue and dissent.
