Tesla Officially Cancels $16,000 Cybertruck Range Extender After Delays

by rrollins, May 10, 2025

Tesla has canceled its $16,000 Cybertruck range extender, leaving buyers without the promised extra miles. The add-on, expected to boost range by 120–130 miles, was quietly removed from Tesla’s site before the official announcement. Customers who placed $2,000 deposits will receive full refunds, but many are frustrated. Tesla hasn’t given an official reason, but speculation points to low demand, high cost, and growing Supercharger access reducing its necessity. The decision adds to a series of Cybertruck setbacks, including recalls and lower-than-expected sales, as Tesla shifts focus to built-in battery improvements instead.
