BTS member Jungkook fell victim to a financial fraud scheme where a hacker accessed his HYBE shares, transferring 33,500 shares worth approximately 8.4 billion won (around $5.7 million) to unauthorized accounts. Occurring in January 2024 during his military service, the hacker reportedly created a fraudulent stock account under Jungkook’s name, selling 500 shares to a third party while keeping the rest. BigHit Music acted swiftly by suspending transactions and filing a lawsuit. The Seoul Western District Court ruled in Jungkook’s favor, restoring his assets. This incident highlights concerns about identity theft and cybersecurity vulnerabilities, particularly for public figures.
