Amazon’s 2023 Toys We Love list arrives just in time to save parents, aunts, uncles, and godparents everywhere from the annual holiday gift-guessing game. The e-commerce giant has gathered over 200 toys, games, and activity kits to guide you to the ideal present, whether for the little dynamos in your life or the still-young-at-heart adults.
The team at Amazon delved deep into an extensive catalog of nearly 12 million toys and games to curate the eclectic shopping list. From action figures that’ll have you time-traveling back to the 90s, to tranquil LEGO sets that promise zen-like calm, this list covers the full spectrum of fun.
2023 has been a year where pop-culture icons took center stage in the toy world, according to the website. Thanks to Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, pink has never been hotter. The Super Mario Bros, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even Taylor Swift have us swapping friendship bracelets and digging out our old comic books. And let’s not forget Disney’s 100th anniversary, sprinkling a little extra magic over this year’s toy trends. Echoes of these pop-culture milestones are evident in the guide.
In contrast to these big-screen inspirations, Amazon also nods to the growing appeal of quieter, mindful play. Miniature collectibles and plushies that double as stress relievers reflect a shift towards toys that offer comfort and tranquility.
Amazon’s director of toys and games, Anne Carrihill, points out the unifying thread of these choices. “It’s been fantastic to see how big moments in pop culture have inspired enthusiasm from both kids and adults… and that’s driving a lot of shopping momentum going into the 2023 holiday season,” she says. “Collectively celebrating these moments reminds us of how much toys impact our lives and how we want to keep that sense of wonder for as long as we can, during the holidays and throughout the year.”
