Adidas recently introduced the Adizero Prime x 2 Strung, the latest addition to its vast selection of running shoes. However, unlike the others, athletes won’t be able to don this pair at elite races.
While racing shoes are typically limited to a maximum stack height of 40 mm (1.57 inches) and a single carbon plate, the latest model takes things up a notch with a 50 mm (1.96 inches) stack height and a double carbon-infused plate system.

At the heart of this innovation lies the re-engineered midsole, boasting an impressive three layers of Lightstrike Pro foam—a unique feature among the brand’s existing lineup.
While elite racing circuits might find this shoe outside their permissible limits, the shoe is geared towards ambitious runners aiming to surpass their personal bests.

Several innovative technological updates make this shoe a standout choice, including a strung upper that’s strengthened in areas like the midfoot and heel that need it most.
It also features targeted flexibility in key expansion zones in the forefoot. The inclusion of a knitted tongue is a thoughtful addition that enhances the overall lock-in feel.

In addition, the core of the new footwear is flanked by two carbon-infused plates, working together to create a platform that offers heightened responsiveness throughout the run.
Runners can snag a pair of the Adizero Prime x 2 Strung in either the cloud white / core black / lucid cyan or the lucid lemon / core black / arctic night colorways, retailing at US$300.
