With the much-anticipated Super Mario Bros. Wonder (which includes elephant Mario!) debuting on October 20, Nintendo is giving the Switch a power-up in the form of a themed OLED console in Mario Red.
Considering the bright aesthetics of the popular franchise, it’s easy for Nintendo to make themed products appear over-the-top, almost to the point of them looking tacky. However, the Switch OLED Model: Mario Red Edition subverts Bowser-level maximalist tropes.

In its stead is a matte finish with subtle Mario motifs, ensuring your eyes still gravitate to your game and not the hardware.

Priced at US$349.99, the limited-edition OLED model costs the same as Nintendo Switch’s regular OLED version, and it also includes the usual dock and Joy-Con controllers—all splashed in Mario Red, of course. A silhouette of the plumber can be seen hopping in from the corner on the back of the dock.

The Mario-themed Nintendo Switch will officially launch on October 6 via Nintendo and Best Buy. Fans can also pre-order the console now.
