Hugging Face’s MicroDuck is a $399 AI robot built by Pollen Robotics, the French robotics company Hugging Face acquired last year. The compact duck-shaped machine can waddle, crouch, roller-skate, grab objects with its beak and recover from falls. It features 15 motors, LiDAR, dual IMUs, a camera and a Rockchip RK3566 processor with AI acceleration. Its open-source software supports reinforcement learning and sim-to-real training, while the hardware design remains closed. Demand has been strong, with more than $2.6 million in orders placed during its first 24 hours on sale.
