A Michelin‑starred restaurant in Seoul is facing prosecution after allegedly serving sorbet topped with black ants, an ingredient not approved under South Korea’s Food Sanitation Act. Authorities claim the two‑star venue in Gangnam offered the ant garnish more than 12,000 times between 2021 and early 2025, generating about 120 million won in revenue. Investigators also found the imported ants contained heavy metals far above legal limits.
