OpenAI and the Government of Malta have unveiled a world‑first partnership to provide every Maltese resident and citizen abroad with one year of free ChatGPT Plus, contingent on completing a national AI literacy course. Developed by the University of Malta, the programme teaches responsible AI use before granting access to premium tools. Launching in May 2026, the Malta Digital Innovation Authority will oversee distribution.
