Meta is rolling out new AI age checks that go far beyond asking for a birthdate. The system scans posts and comments for clues like birthday wishes or school references, then adds a visual layer that estimates age from traits such as height and bone structure. Meta insists this is not facial recognition but a way to spot underage users more effectively. Accounts flagged as under 13 are locked until proof of age is shown, while teens aged 13 to 15 are moved into stricter Teen Accounts. Privacy concerns remain over bone‑structure analysis and potential misidentifications.
