Banksy’s The Migrant Child mural, painted on the canal-facing wall of Venice’s Palazzo San Pantalon in 2019, has been removed for restoration due to severe water damage. The conservation effort, led by Federico Borgogni, aims to preserve the mural’s integrity without full reconstruction. Simultaneously, Zaha Hadid Architects are reviving the palazzo into a contemporary art space. While the restoration has sparked debate over artistic intent and consent, the project reflects a broader cultural initiative to protect and repurpose public art. The mural will be publicly displayed once restored, though its original placement remains uncertain.
