At the UN’s AI for Good Summit in Geneva, King Charles III became the subject of a groundbreaking portrait painted by Ai-Da, the world’s first ultra-realistic humanoid robot artist. Titled Algorithm King, the oil painting was created using AI algorithms, cameras, and a robotic arm—without the monarch ever posing. Ai-Da previously painted Queen Elizabeth II, making Charles her latest royal muse. Developed in 2019 by Aidan Meller and UK researchers, Ai-Da’s work blends machine learning with traditional artistry. The portrait challenges ideas of authorship and creativity, and will join a global tour in 2026.
