Blizzard has announced it will no longer develop new content for Warcraft Rumble, its mobile tower defense game based on the Warcraft universe. The decision comes amid sweeping Microsoft layoffs affecting around 9,000 employees, including many at Blizzard. While the game will remain playable with ongoing bug fixes and in-game events, it is effectively entering maintenance mode. Launched in 2023 after nine years of development, Warcraft Rumble struggled to meet expectations despite community feedback and updates. The move reflects broader restructuring across Xbox studios, which has also led to game cancellations and studio closures across Microsoft’s gaming division.
