Tesla’s Cybertruck is steering into uncharted waters with ‘Wade Mode’, a feature that enables the futuristic electric vehicle to navigate shallow waters with ease.

Wade Mode is accessible within the Cybertruck’s off-road settings, enabling drivers to effortlessly toggle it on or off depending on the terrain. When activated, the mode elevates the vehicle’s ride height and employs the air suspension system to create a positive pressure around the 123 kWh battery pack—effectively sealing it against water ingress.

This scuba-like technology is part of what Tesla’s head of design, Franz von Holzhausen, refers to as the “scuba pack,” ensuring that the monster’s vital components remain dry even when navigating through waters up to two feet and seven inches deep.

Wade Mode takes up to 10 minutes to activate and has a 30-minute operational window.

And it seems the automaker plans to tackle greater currents. CEO Elon Musk has noted that a modification package aimed at bolstering the Cybertruck’s aquatic capabilities even further is in the works, envisioning the vehicle crossing stretches of water up to 100 meters (328 feet) as if it were a boat. While the primary focus of these enhancements would be to upgrade cabin door seals, the exact details and feasibility of such a package remain a topic of curiosity.

We are going to offer a mod package that enables Cybertruck to traverse at least 100m of water as a boat.

Mostly just need to upgrade cabin door seals.
