The literal embodiment of cutting-edge, London-based creative studio Typica introduces the RATIO Blades, an everyday carry (EDC) tool that combines practicality with the elegance of the Golden Ratio—serving not only as functional tools but also stylish accessories for both urban and outdoor settings.

Designed for versatility, the mini-blades effortlessly transition from urban to wilderness environments. In the city, they take on everyday tasks like opening packages or tightening screws, while in nature, they’re prepared for activities like cutting ropes and preparing food.

The blades’ design is deeply rooted in the Golden Rectangle, a geometric principle used by the ancient Greeks. This timeless principle, evident in art and architecture through the ages, is once again manifested in the tool’s pleasing proportions and aesthetic appeal.

The RATIO Blades are crafted from 440C hardened stainless steel, renowned for its durability and resistance to the elements. This material choice ensures the blades remain sharp and reliable through repeated use, offering a dependable solution for a variety of tasks.

A practical touch is the large hole in the blade, meant to enhance grip and safety, offering a level of control and precision that’s rarely seen in other mini blades. The RATIO Blade’s 2.5mm thickness also exceeds that of average mini blades, making it both durable and easy to maneuver.

Each piece comes with a CNC-machined aerospace-grade aluminum magnetic case, featuring high-grade neodymium magnets for secure storage. The case’s detachable design not only ensures safety but also offers convenience, as it allows the blade to be detached for unencumbered use. It’s finished with a hard-anodized matte surface and includes a hole for attaching to keys or paracord, making the blade easily portable.

Despite their compact size, the RATIO Blades are versatile tools. They come in two styles: the Kiridashi, with a 28mm blade for chiseling and fire starting, and the Sheepsfoot, with a 17mm blade ideal for cutting and carving.

Perhaps their most illuminating feature is that the RATIO Blades are compatible with fire starter rods, adding to their utility in outdoor settings.
