Google Reveals The Most Sought-After Halloween Costumes Of 2023

Google-y-eyed for costume inspiration? Here are some ideas.

Google Trends has opened its Frightgeist portal, where you’ll discover the most-searched Halloween costume trends for 2023 in the United States. This digital cauldron of sorts, brewed from over 500 top queries, allows you to sort through the most popular getups nationally. But if you want to get into the local spirit, it lets you narrow it down by state too.

Haunting the top of the list, pretty unsurprisingly, is Barbie, as Gerta Gerwig’s wildly successful Barbie movie has undoubtedly made pink the new black. As per Google Trends data cited by USA Today, this means “Barbie and Ken” is the #1 power couple costume idea of the year too.

Other coveted concepts, besides the usual suspects like witches and clowns, include Spider-Man, Wednesday Addams (whose pop-culture status has been renewed once again by the Netflix series), Princess Peach, mermaids, dinosaurs, and bunnies.
