The baguette has competition, and it’s a footlong… shoe. This design might be comfiest yet because you won’t be walking around in them. It’s created by Syro, a cult-favorite, queer-affirming fashion label focused on making high heels in bigger sizes that range from a men’s eight to 14.
Stepping away from footwear for a second, the Brooklyn-based atelier has debuted its first shoulder bag. Unsurprisingly, it’s modeled after a stiletto. And for those who are curious, the Stiletto bag is a size 43, which isn’t just a nod to the brand’s commitment to inclusive “weapons of mass feminization” but also ensures enough legroom to tote your essentials and more.

More than just a quirky accessory, the bag, resembling an ankle boot heel, aims to deliver a message about queer strength and empowerment. It’s a reminder of the time when a performer impeded a mass shooter’s further attacks using a stiletto during the anti-LGBT-motivated Colorado Springs nightclub shooting in 2022, Vogue reports.

The seed of a footwear-inspired bag was first planted in Syro co-founder Henry Bae’s mind when he came across someone who had a knee-high stiletto boot secured to a backpack.
It took several tries before the creators landed on their feet with this bag. Earlier prototypes were too soft and lacked the realism of a dagger-sharp stiletto. Then, Bae had the idea to pull the strap and parallel zipper across the sole, which led to the creation of a more convincing piece with structural integrity.

The Stiletto bag, priced at US$375, speaks to the need to coordinate your outfits with three colorways. There’s ‘Onyx’, a black croc-embossed calf leather option; ‘Titan’, a metallic silver croc-embossed version; and ‘Umber’, a rustic brown calf leather style. The first two are iconically finished with a silver heel, while the brown model gets a bronze “outsole.”
You can preorder your shoe/bag on the Syro website now.
