Wall A2 TV Stand

by Nakamura Co.

Wall A2 TV Stand by Nakamura Co.

Inspired by the “ever-increasing viewing styles,” Nakamura Co. sought a new way to house TVs that were not box-standard consoles or cabinets. The Wall A2 is a free-standing TV stand that can accommodate a variety of TVs from different manufacturers. It doesn’t need to be drilled into a wall, and its height can be adjusted to fit any room.

“WALL A2 features a simple 7-shaped design that fits to the modern aesthetic principles. For easy manufacturing and assembly, the structure was simplified to the limit, consisting of a steel pipe welded to a plate. The circular base and TV mounting frame were secured with screws. Satin powder coating was applied to the entire body, and a woodgrain finish was baked on the surface of the supporting pillar, giving a texture of high-quality furniture.”

Flip Chair

Flip Chair by Kuan-Cheng Chen

While most chairs and couches might aim to be as plush and cozy as they can be, Flip Chair is here to evoke images of warm grassy knolls and days out in the sun.

According to Chen, the chair is meant to mimic “lounging on a sprawling lawn, experiencing the plushness of the grass beneath you, basking in the warm sunlight, and feeling the gentle caress of the breeze.” Its organic structure was made by bending the wood into natural curves and contours to imitate nature.

This unique three-story house, designed by Zsolt Szalai, brings a collector’s idea of a wine cellar. It is a handmade, temperature-controlled piece created with a true wine enthusiast in mind. It combines burnished steel frames with partially colored insulating glass, achieving stability and airiness. It offers ample space for wine cooling, storage, and collection. On the opposing side, a pivot door, also handcrafted from burnished steel, features colored glass accents in its recesses, mirroring the aesthetic of the wine cellar.

This project, rooted in the theme of “Between stability and anxiety,” explores the tension between stability and uncertainty prevalent in today’s society. The designer utilizes the tensegrity structure to create Seven, a unique wind chime that embodies this contemporary narrative. While it appears to float with stability, external forces, like the wind, prompt a gentle sway to maintain equilibrium. This swaying is transformed into a soothing sound that resonates through the space, infusing daily life with healing and vibrancy.

The Nikao side table takes inspiration from nature’s organic forms and evolutionary processes. The piece uses natural materials to emulate these natural transformations, resulting in a functional and elegant side table. Based on circular and cylindrical geometries, the Nikao Side Table adapts to specific environments and functions while preserving its original essence.

Sketch Shelf  by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University

The inspiration for this shelf originates from intricate and structured steel scaffolding, representing an order within the chaos of construction.

This innovative shelf is created by combining lines to construct storage space through an algorithm. It transforms chaos into a methodical order, appearing as a complex interplay of lines from a distance while functioning as a practical shelf.

Functionally, the shelf can hold various items, with its crisscrossing lines providing additional options for hanging objects.

Crisscross Folding Chair

By Cameron Smith

Crisscross Folding Chair by Cameron Smith

“People are living in smaller, more flexible spaces and deserve a chair that flexes with them. Many dining tables expand and contract to accommodate different size settings, yet most dining chairs aren’t easily stored when not in use,” explains Smith. “This forces people to use mix-matched chairs for larger settings or find a place to store extra chairs with smaller groups. Folding chairs, although easy to store, aren’t designed for everyday use and lack the quality and design people desire for a formal sitting.”

“The Crisscross chair provides flexible seating without sacrificing quality. Designed as an everyday use chair, the Crisscross chair folds so it can be stored or easily relocated to another room. A geared mechanism concealed within the back leg creates a synchronized motion with the seat and legs. When folded, the entire chair nests within the front legs, making it easy to relocate to another room or store for another time.”
