Pokémon trainer hopefuls, your best companions might be a little closer to home than you think. Born from the vision of artificial intelligence, these 51 imaginary species inspired by the diversity of pocket monsters personify the United States in a way that packs a punch.
More than just whimsical character designs, the ensemble embodies the essence of their respective states, drawing inspiration from their history, culture, geography, and wildlife. From a majestic rock-type iteration of Colorado bison to a shimmery New York phoenix, each Pokémon is a vivid representation of its home state.

The illustrations were commissioned by online gaming website Replay Poker, and were dreamed up using ChatGPT and Midjourney.
Interestingly, the most common type between the US-inspired creatures appears to be Grass, observed in 22 states, followed by Water and Rock.
In contrast, Dragon, Fairy, Poison, and Electric types are the rarest, with only two states each. Alas, there are no Bug, Dark, or Ghost-type Pokémon in the lineup.
