Drone manufacturer Atlas Aerospace is introducing a new solution for airport surveillance: the AtlasNEST system. This innovative system employs unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to offer a bird’s-eye view of landing areas, significantly enhancing security and operational control.

The AtlasNEST system comprises strategically positioned outdoor docking stations that serve as homes for the AtlasPRO tricopter drones. These docking stations can be deployed in multiple locations around an airport, tailored to its size and level of activity.

One of the key features of this system is the ability of control tower personnel to initiate the launch of a drone from the AtlasNEST remotely. Once airborne, the tricopter provides real-time aerial perspectives through its thermal camera, a capability that is invaluable for monitoring airport landing zones.

The AtlasPRO boasts a runtime of 32 minutes and a communication range of up to six miles via LTE. After completing its mission, the UAV autonomously returns to its docking station. Here, a robotic battery swap ensures it’s swiftly ready for its next deployment, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.

One of the advantages of the AtlasNEST system is its flexibility and scalability. Airports can adapt the number of docking stations to match their specific needs, ensuring comprehensive surveillance coverage.

Atlas Aerospace offers the AtlasNEST system through leasing programs, starting at EUR€4,200 (US$4,470.63) monthly. This accessible pricing structure is designed to cater to airports of varying sizes and budgets.
